Volunteers

leafsmallSeine River Services for Seniors is always looking for patient and compassionate individuals to support our clients. Those interested may become a volunteer, or a volunteer service provider.

A volunteer is someone who offers their time and talents, free of charge, such as friendly visiting, technology support, deliveries.

A volunteer service provider offers their time and talents with a minimal fee, a fee that is decided by the Board of Directors of SRS. The fee is to help compensate the volunteer in their role, such as mileage for the use of their personal vehicle, when transportation is provided. Another example of a volunteer service provider is housecleaning. The hourly rate for cleaning senior’s homes is kept low to allow accessibility to services and to compensate the volunteer for the work it requires.

To become a volunteer or volunteer service provider, we ask individuals to call the Senior Resource Coordinator who will help with the application and screening process. There is also orientation and training offered to support candidates in their roles.

Volunteer roles include:

  • Friendly Visiting
  • Income Tax preparer, through the Federal program Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
  • Delivering orders from the Heart to Home Meals partnership
  • Support/teaching technology

Volunteer service provider roles include:

  • Transportation
  • House cleaning
  • Mobile hair dresser
